Why fall works for groups

Fall is when many groups turn their attention to Scottsdale. It is a popular season for golf trips, friends’ weekends and family reunions, with a calendar of sports, festivals and Old Town events to plan around. Our local guide and events pages link to official sources so you can see what is on for your dates.

For a group, the appeal is simple: spend the day out and about, then come back to one house with everything you need for the evening.

Fall also brings plenty of reasons to travel: college football and NFL weekends, birthday and milestone trips, and families looking for a getaway before the holiday rush. Five bedrooms and nine beds let a mixed group share one base without anyone feeling squeezed, and the open kitchen and long dining table make group dinners at home easy on the nights you skip restaurants.

Golf groups

Fall golf trips are a Scottsdale tradition. The house works around early tee times with a full kitchen for quick breakfasts and a long dining table for the post-round meal. The backyard putting green sits next to the pool for settling bets, and mini golf adds a sillier contest for the non-golfers. Tee times are booked directly with each course; our local guide lists courses with official links and directions from the house.

The sport court and backyard games

The blue-and-red basketball sport court and the permanent snookball court are the backyard centerpieces, joined by backyard bowling, cornhole, giant chess and giant Jenga. Pleasant fall afternoons are made for a bracket that runs the length of the trip, with the pool and the covered hot tub a few steps away. Pool heat is optional and can be added for your stay; see the booking page for details. Pool heat is purchased for the entire stay.

Game night

When the sun goes down, the game room takes over with a pool table, foosball and ping pong, and the covered patios and fire pit seating keep the group outside a little longer. The hot tub pavilion has an outdoor television for college football and NFL weekends. The house is a vacation rental, not an event venue, and the house rules on the booking page apply.

Pickleball groups

There is no on-site pickleball court at The Scottsdale Social. If pickleball is the point of the trip, compare our sister home, The Sunkiss, also part of Trailstead Stays. Each home is booked separately, with its own rules and guest limits.

Planning a fall stay

Check-in is at 4 p.m. and checkout at 10 a.m., the primary guest must be 25 or older, and the driveway fits four cars.
